DOW University Prepares Vaccine for CORONA Virus

Dow University of Health Sciences is a public sector university located in Karachi, Pakistan. It is one of the oldest universities in Pakistan.

Vaccine development in DOW university:

Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) medical experts have claimed on Monday that they have created a drug to treat patients suffering from the coronavirus disease. As per details, medical experts from the DUHS claimed that Intravenous Immunoglobulin (IVIG) can cure the COVID-19 patients.

Professor Muhammad Saeed Qureshi, one of the members of the research team, said that Intravenous Immunoglobulin is a huge development in the fight against COVID-19. He said that globulin was manufactured with purified antibodies, that were obtained from the recovered patients. Professor Shaukat Ali, head of the research team, has termed the cure as a ray of hope in view of  the pandemic crisis. On 9^th of April, the DRAP (the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan) allowed clinical trials of blood plasma therapy to treat coronavirus patients. This way of treatment is already approved by US food and drug administration.

What is Plasma?

Plasma is the fluid in blood teeming with antibodies post-illness.

It has already proven effective in studies to treat infectious diseases including Ebola and SARS. The Special Assistant to PM on Health, Dr Zafar Mirza made this announcement as, “The DRAP has also approved manufacturing of the raw material of the anti-malarial drug, chloroquine locally.”

 The corona situation is getting worst day by day in the world. Lockdown is continuing in many countries across the globe. According to recent statistics issued by Command and Control Centre for Corona in Pakistan, the number of  confirmed coronavirus cases has reached 5,716 in the country as 100 people have died from the infection till today. According to the available statistics, 342 cases have been reported in the country during the last 24 hours.
